Lupron Day 50

My next Lupron injection will be next week, so I’m starting to work on getting the prescription filled. The insurance company wanted me to mail order it last time, and the Dr. faxed the prescription earlier this month. A few days later, the company auto-called me to tell me that it was being worked on, and they just needed a few more things in my account. I called today, and the order was no longer in my account! Since my pharmacy never manages to call my dr when they say they will, I started with the doctor’s office this time. So she’s going to call in the order, and then I have to call the pharmacy to tell them to run the order. As soon as they run the order, they’ll get a hold because my insurance wants me to mail order it. So then I need to call the insurance and tell them to cancel the hold. And then I need to call the pharmacy back to tell them to run the order again. Then they need to special order it, and they’ll call me when it’s in. It’s so complicated, but at least this month I know what to expect.

Lupron side effects have been really mild since last check-in. I’m still struggling with insomnia this month, but I think it’s due to the stress of buying a house. Lupron probably isn’t helping though.

Project updates:

Other medical appointments:
Dentist. Check.
Dentist again to fill cavity. Check.
Eye doctor: Check.
New glasses: Check.
Vet appointment for my dog: Scheduled for March 31
HSG: next month (I’m procrastinating on this by scheduling everything else)

Weight loss:
I haven’t even weighed myself since my last check-in, and due to stress I’ve been eating too many desserts….

Buy a house!
We saw 5 more houses on Saturday, bringing our total to 21. And we made an offer today! It was the house that didn’t let us in last weekend, and I really hope the owner isn’t difficult to work with.

Someone took our house

Ok, it wasn’t really our house. It was a house we fell in love with and were ready to make an offer on on Sunday, if the 2nd visit had gone well. But someone else put an offer in on Friday. I had been feeling good about the process, and glad that at least this was in my control (unlike TTC). But now I feel like it’s out of our control too.

Yesterday’s house tour was really disappointing. House #1 cancelled the showing at the last minute (doesn’t make me want to work with the owner). House #2 was big, and fairly nice, but just didn’t grab us (too many cheap remodeling projects). House #3 was small and didn’t have enough rooms. House #4 was pulled off the market before we were able to see it. House #5 (open house) also didn’t grab us — it didn’t feel like a home for a family with 2 small boys.

We’ve seen 16 houses, and I feel like we’re in a place to move quickly when the right now shows up (again).

Lupron Day 40ish

I’m somewhere around day 40 of my Lupron Depot treatment. I’m having a really difficult time sleeping and staying asleep recently. I think it’s a combination of side effects and stress. I think I have hot flashes occasionally at night, and possibly when I’m doing the dishes over hot water (we don’t have a dishwasher). I had some very minor spotting for about 5 days starting 4 days after my last shot. My DH thinks a recent outburst was a side effect, but I think it was legit. 😉  I had been feeling really upbeat and optimistic last week, but I caught a cold this week, and the combination of sleeping problems, the cold, and stress levels have made my upbeat mood a little less this week.

Updates on projects

Other medical appointments:

Dentist again to fill cavity. Check.
Eye doctor: Check.
New glasses: Check.
Vet appointment for my dog: Scheduled for March 31

Weight loss:
Um, yeah. No progress since the last check-in. I had been doing ok until this week when stress and being sick caught up to me.

Buy a house!
So this is the main cause stress right now. We’ve now seen 13 houses, and are seriously considering one of them. We’re seeing 4 more houses this weekend, but if things go as expected, we might make an offer on Sunday. Although this should be fun, it’s actually quite stressful. But it’s my current obsession and has completely taken my mind off of TTC.

Work news:
OMG, I had a book proposal accepted (along with 2 other co-authors). And I’m writing another annotated bibliography. And I just turned in the final draft of a peer-reviewed article before publication. And I’ll be teaching a graduate level class in the fall. When/how did all of this happen?

I just had my 2nd Lupron Depot shot. If I was cycling, this would be cycle #20 of ttc. After my last post, I was still worked up about having to mail order the prescription, so I called my insurance and told them that I needed it ASAP. Luckily, they did an override on the mail order requirement, so I called my pharmacy back, and they were able to fill it. But they still had to special order it, and their delivery doesn’t run on the weekends. I really wanted to take my shot on Monday, but ended up having to take it today (Tuesday) instead. Overall, it’s not that big of a deal, but still a frustrating experience. I was really glad that I’d managed to get the pharmacy to fill it, because when I was at the Dr.’s office today, they still hadn’t signed the prescription form from the mail order company. I still asked the Dr. to sign it though so I can get my final shot through the mail order company. We’ll see what happens next month.

Side effects have been pretty manageable so far. I had a week of depression and a week of spotting, but both of them only lasted a week. I haven’t had any hot flashes yet, although sometimes I feel warm when I wake up in the middle of the night. But that’s not uncommon for me since I like to bundle up under the covers before falling asleep.

Update on my projects:

Other medical appointments:
Dentist. Check.
Dentist again to fill cavity. Check.
Eye doctor: Thursday
New glasses: This month
Vet appointment for my dog: This month
HSG: next month (I’m procrastinating on this by scheduling everything else)

Weight loss:
I’m hoping to lose 13 pounds by the end of the Lupron treatments. I’ve lost 4 so far, and am generally on track. Unfortunately I’m not feeling especially motivated, so this might be a challenge.

Buy a house!
This is my new obsession to keep my mind off of ttc. We’ve seen 8 houses so far, but only 2 of them have been possibilities. People have ugly houses. I took a seminar at the bank, and we’ve been working with a realtor. We have an appointment with the bank for a pre-approval on March 13th.

In case this process isn’t painful and complicated enough, getting prescriptions filled is turning into a nightmare. Lupron Depot is particularly painful.

Last month, I dropped my prescription off at Ta.rget. They told me they would have to place a special order for it, but it should be in the next day. Then they called me to tell me that it cost $900 without insurance, but if I had insurance I could give the info to them when I picked it up. $900 was scary for me, so I wanted to find out what my co-pay was going to be. According to the insurance website, it would need special pre-approval from the Dr. So I called the pharmacist to tell them to call the Dr, and gave them my insurance info over the phone. They called back and said that they didn’t need pre-approval after all, so I was able to go pick it up. Total time from drop off of prescription: 3 days. Workflow: Me -> pharmacy ->me ->insurance -> me -> pharmacy -> insurance -> me

Now it’s time for my next Lupron Depot shot. I started on Tuesday by calling in a refill. My Dr. hadn’t given me a refill, so the pharmacy had to call my Dr. On Thursday I checked in, and they said they’d called my Dr., but hadn’t heard back. So, I called my Dr’s office, and they said they’d never heard from the pharmacy. This has happened before with the pharmacy, and I believe my Dr.’s side. I had the Dr.’s office call the pharmacy. Last night I got a call from the pharmacy with instructions to call back, so I called this morning, and they said that the insurance will only fill it if it’s mail ordered. Then I called the mail order place, and they need to call the Dr., and then mail the prescription. I won’t have it by Monday, which is when I wanted my next shot. Total time: at least 7 days. Workflow: Me -> pharmacy -> me -> Dr. -> pharmacy -> insurance -> pharmacy -> me -> mail order company -> Dr. -> mail order company -> insurance -> me. How is this efficient?

I just want to have a baby. 😦
